(all) faces shall be humbled before (him) - the living, the self-subsisting, eternal: hopeless indeed will be the man that carries iniquity (on his back).

de som er i herrens nærhet, er ikke for overmodige til å tjene ham. de synger hans pris, og bøyer seg ydmykt ned for ham.
[even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your lord are not too proud to worship him: they glorify him and prostrate themselves before him.

og de bøyet seg unntatt iblis (satan).
then we said to the angels, "prostrate to adam"; so they prostrated, except for iblees.

du ser dem bøye seg og falle ned idet de søker guds gunst og velbehag.
thou (o muhammad) seest them bowing and falling prostrate (in worship), seeking bounty from allah and (his) acceptance.

my friend leaned a little forward and his expression became intent.

all the angels obeyed except satan who did not.

(while so saying) david realized that it is we who have put him to test; therefore, he sought the forgiveness of his lord, and fell down, bowing and penitently turning (to him).

and assuredly we created you, thereafter we fashioned you, and thereafter we said to the angels: prostrate yourselves before adam; then they fell prostrate; not so iblis: he was not of those who fell prostrate.
