and we inspired moses, when his people asked him for something to drink: “strike the rock with your staff.”

na musa alipo omba maji kwa ajili ya watu wake, tulimwambia: lipige jiwe kwa fimbo yako.
and (remember) when musa (moses) asked for water for his people, we said: "strike the stone with your stick."

tulimletea wahyi musa tukamwambia: piga bahari kwa fimbo yako. basi ikatengana, na kila sehemu ikawa kama mlima mkubwa.
so we sent the divine revelation to moosa that, “strike the sea with your staff”; thereupon the sea parted; so each part was like a huge mountain.

naam, nitawapa uwezo uleule nilioupokea kwa baba: yaani, watayatawala mataifa kwa fimbo ya chuma na kuyavunjavunja kama chombo cha udongo.
and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as i received of my father.

we divided the descendants of israel into twelve tribes and told moses to strike the rock with his staff to let twelve fountains gush out therefrom; his people had asked him to supply them with water.

and we divided them into twelve tribes, as nations; and we revealed to musa when his people asked him for water: strike the rock with your staff, so outnowed from it twelve springs; each tribe knew its drinking place; and we made the clouds to give shade over them and we sent to them manna and quails: eat of the good things we have given you.

upanga mkali hutoka kinywani mwake, na kwa upanga huo atawashinda mataifa. yeye ndiye atakayetawala kwa fimbo ya chuma na kuikamua divai katika chombo cha kukamulia zabibu za ghadhabu kuu ya mungu mwenye uwezo.
and out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of almighty god.

na musa alipo omba maji kwa ajili ya watu wake, tulimwambia: lipige jiwe kwa fimbo yako. mara zikatimbuka chemchem kumi na mbili; kila kabila ikajua mahali pake pa kunywea.
(remember) when moses prayed for water for his nation, we said to him: 'strike the rock with your staff' thereupon twelve springs gushed from it, and each tribe knew their drinking place.
