རྒྱལ་པོས་སྨྲས་པ།
the king replied,

གཞན་དག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ། །
some answered,

ཐལ་མོ་སྦྱར་ཏེ་སྨྲས་པ།
pressing their palms together they said,

དེས་སྨྲས་པ། མ་གནང་ངོ་། །
“they have not.”

དེ་དག་གིས་དེ་ལ་སྨྲས་པ།
his parents then said to him,

ཁ་བསྒྱུར་ནས་བྱིན་ཏེ་སྨྲས་པ།
he handed them over to the former beggar and said,

གོ་ཞེས་དེ་དག་གིས་དེ་ལ་སྨྲས་པ།
we should make him account for what is here.”

དེ་དག་གིས་གཅིག་གིས་གཅིག་མཐོང་ནས་སྨྲས་པ།
as they caught sight of one another, they exclaimed,

དེ་དག་གིས་དེ་མཐོང་ནས་དེ་དག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ། །
the five hundred merchants were securing their wares when they saw saṅgharakṣita and exclaimed,

སྨྲས་པ། ཆུ་སྲིན་གནས་ཀྱི་དུག་ཅན་པ། །དུས་ལས་འདའ་བར་འགྱུར་སྲིད་ཀྱི། །
it has been said: the home of noxious water beasts may in time evaporate,

ཞེས་ཚིགས་སུ་བཅད་པ་ཡང་སྨྲས་སོ། །
and then they added this verse:

དགེ་སློང་དག་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་ཅང་ཤེས་གཞོན་ཤ་ཅན་དང་། འཁོར་ལོས་སྒྱུར་བའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་དང་། རྒྱ་མཚོ་དུག་ཅན་པ་དང་། རིའི་རྒྱལ་རྒྱལ་པོ་རི་རབ་དང་།
a clever and youthful elephant; a king of the world; the ocean with its monsters;
