or do they say: “he is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.”
mise waxay dhihi waa gabayaa ee aan la sugno geerida.

and none attaineth that except those who are patient; and none attaineth that except the owner of mighty good fortune,
lalamana kulmiyo arrintaas kuwii samrey mooyee, lalamana kulmiyo mid nasiib weyn leh mooyee.

and none are made to receive it but those who are patient, and none are made to receive it but those who have a mighty good fortune.

man never tires of asking for the good things of life; but if evil fortune befalls him, he abandons all hope, giving himself up to despair.

among the bedouins are those who regard what they spend as a loss, and they watch for a reversal of your fortunes. theirs shall be an adverse turn of fortune, and allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
