il metodo consiste nel costruire l'opera letteraria a partire dal costruito rappresentato dalle favole e dalle leggende, che i suoi genitori gli raccontavano quand'era bambino. le favole dell'infanzia erano il pretesto su cui innestare la ripetizione o il continuare a scrivere (weiterschreiben): certi grandi motivi, leggende, tradizioni millenarie, mi s'imprimevano così profondamente nei sensi, che li ho conservati vivi e operanti in me per quaranta o cinquant'anni; rivedere spesso con la fantasia queste belle immagini mi sembrava il più ambito tesoro, perché cambiavano continuamente aspetto senza mutare sostanza , e maturavano in forme sempre più pure, in rappresentazioni sempre più nette.
