and so we find ourselves transported to an imaginary japan of more than one hundred years ago, where between jibes and jests, the usual drama unfolds of the geisha in love with a poor but beautiful man, who is forced to manoeuvre among ugly, arrogant and powerful men, from the landlord of the tea house, to the conceited chief of the japanese police, to the even more vacuous british navy officer.
