in lectulo meo, per noctes, quaesivi quem diligit anima mea.
in my bed by night i sought him whom my soul loveth.

increpat quoque per dolorem in lectulo et omnia ossa eius marcescere faci
he is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

by night on my bed i sought him whom my soul loveth: i sought him, but i found him not.

quam ob rem haec dicit dominus de lectulo super quem ascendisti non descendes sed morte morieris et abiit helia
now therefore thus saith the lord, thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. and elijah departed.

et locutus est ei haec dicit dominus quia misisti nuntios ad consulendum beelzebub deum accaron quasi non esset deus in israhel a quo possis interrogare sermonem ideo de lectulo super quem ascendisti non descendes sed morte morieri
and he said unto him, thus saith the lord, forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of baal-zebub the god of ekron, is it not because there is no god in israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

at illi responderunt ei vir occurrit nobis et dixit ad nos ite revertimini ad regem qui misit vos et dicetis ei haec dicit dominus numquid quia non erat deus in israhel mittis ut consulatur beelzebub deus accaron idcirco de lectulo super quem ascendisti non descendes sed morte morieri
and they said unto him, there came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, thus saith the lord, is it not because there is not a god in israel, that thou sendest to inquire of baal-zebub the god of ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
