Յուդան իր անդրանիկ որդի Էրի համար մի կին առաւ, որի անունը Թամար էր:

Երբ Յուդան տեսաւ նրան, կարծեց, թէ բոզ է, որովհետեւ նա երեսը ծածկել էր, ուստի ինքը նրան չճանաչեց:

Յուդան իր եղբայրներին ասաց. «Ի՞նչ օգուտ, եթէ սպանենք մեր եղբօրը եւ թաքցնենք նրա արիւնը:

Յուդայի ցեղից Բեսելիէլը՝ Ուրիի որդին, որը որդին էր Ովրի, արեց այնպէս, ինչպէս Տէրը հրամայել էր Մովսէսին:

Յուդան ասաց Օնանին. «Մտի՛ր քո եղբօր կնոջ ծոցը, ամուսնացի՛ր նրա հետ եւ զաւա՛կ պարգեւիր քո եղբօրը»:

and it came to pass at that time, that judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain adullamite, whose name was hirah.
Այդ ժամանակ Յուդան հեռացաւ իր եղբայրներից եւ եկաւ Իրաս անունով ոդողոմացի մի մարդու մօտ:

and judah and his brethren came to joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
Յուդան ու իր եղբայրները ներկայացան Յովսէփին, երբ նա դեռ տանն էր, եւ նրա առաջ երեսի վրայ ընկան գետին:

and he returned to judah, and said, i cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
Նրանք պատասխանեցին. «Այստեղ ոչ մի բոզ չի եղել»: Վերադառնալով Յուդայի մօտ՝ նա ասաց. «Նրան չգտայ: Տեղի մարդիկ էլ ասացին. «Այստեղ բոզ չկայ»:

the sons of leah; reuben, jacob's firstborn, and simeon, and levi, and judah, and issachar, and zebulun:
Լիայից ծնուած որդիներն էին՝ Յակոբի անդրանիկ որդին՝ Ռուբէնը, Շմաւոնը, Ղեւին, Յուդան, Իսաքարը, Զաբուղոնը:

and in process of time the daughter of shuah judah's wife died; and judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to timnath, he and his friend hirah the adullamite.
Թամարը գնաց ու ապրեց իր հօր տանը: Շատ օրեր անցան, եւ մեռաւ Յուդայի կին Շաւան: Յուդան սգից դուրս գալուց յետոյ իր ոդողոմացի հովիւ Իրասի հետ գնաց Թամնա՝ իր ոչխարները խուզելու:

and judah said unto israel his father, send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
Յուդան ասաց իր հայր Իսրայէլին. «Թո՛յլ տուր, որ պատանին գայ ինձ հետ, վեր կենանք գնանք, որպէսզի ե՛ւ մենք, ե՛ւ դու, ե՛ւ մեր ընտանիքի անդամները ապրենք, սովամահ չլինենք:

and it came to pass about three months after, that it was told judah, saying, tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. and judah said, bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
Երեք ամիս յետոյ Յուդային յայտնեցին, թէ՝ «Պոռնկացել է քո հարս Թամարը եւ ահա պոռնկանալու պատճառով յղիացել է»: Յուդան ասաց. «Դո՛ւրս հանեցէք նրան, թող ողջ-ողջ այրուի»:
