ואהי תמים עמו ואשתמר מעוני׃
i was also upright before him, and i kept myself from mine iniquity.

ואהי נגוע כל היום ותוכחתי לבקרים׃
for all the day long have i been plagued, and chastened every morning.

ואבוא אל ירושלם ואהי שם ימים שלשה׃
so i came to jerusalem, and was there three days.

ויאמר אלהם כזה וכזה עשה לי מיכה וישכרני ואהי לו לכהן׃
and he said unto them, thus and thus dealeth micah with me, and hath hired me, and i am his priest.

וארדף את הדרך הזאת עד מות ואהי אסר ומסגיר לכלא אנשים ונשים׃

ואהי הולך וחזק בדת היהודית על רבים מבני גילי בעמי בקנאתי הגדולה לקבלות אבותי׃

ויהי כשמעי את הדברים האלה ישבתי ואבכה ואתאבלה ימים ואהי צם ומתפלל לפני אלהי השמים׃
and it came to pass, when i heard these words, that i sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the god of heaven,

שלש פעמים יסרתי בשוטים פעם אחת סקלתי ושלש פעמים נשברה לי הספינה ואהי במצולות ים לילה ויום׃
thrice was i beaten with rods, once was i stoned, thrice i suffered shipwreck, a night and a day i have been in the deep;

לכן אמר כה אמר אדני יהוה כי הרחקתים בגוים וכי הפיצותים בארצות ואהי להם למקדש מעט בארצות אשר באו שם׃
therefore say, thus saith the lord god; although i have cast them far off among the heathen, and although i have scattered them among the countries, yet will i be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
