negli anni '60 l'agricoltura era l'unica risorsa della val senales ma a causa dell'insufficienza di posti di lavoro molti furono costretti ad abbandonare la valle. negli anni '70 però con la costruzione della funivia del ghiacciaio, dovuta all'iniziativa di leo gurschler, sorsero nuovi posti di lavoro.
