il genere è dedicato al botanico francese jean baptiste leschenault de la tour (1773-1826), il nome è considerato valido senza la “s” perché così riportato erroneamente da robert brown nella pubblicazione in cui istituiva il nuovo genere (1810); il nome specifico è la combi- nazione dei termini latini “bis” = due volte, e “lobus” = lobo, con riferimento ai petali bilobati.
