وكلم صموئيل كل بيت اسرائيل قائلا ان كنتم بكل قلوبكم راجعين الى الرب فانزعوا الآلهة الغريبة والعشتاروث من وسطكم واعدّوا قلوبكم للرب واعبدوه وحده فينقذكم من يد الفلسطينيين.
