166. to complete my efforts, i undertook a second visit to lebanon from 16 to 20 january 2008 to continue my talks with various lebanese officials and political leaders. i also visited damascus to continue talks with syrian officials on the course of events of the lebanese crisis and ways of implementing the arab initiative. these included a meeting, on 19 january 2008, with president bashar al-asad, vice-president farouq al-sharaa and minister of foreign affairs walid al-muallem and, on the evening of 18 january 2008, a meeting in damascus with sheikh hamad bin jassim bin jabr al-thani, prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the state of qatar, followed by a tripartite meeting with the participation of foreign minister al-muallem.
166 - واستكمالا للجهود قمتُ بزيارة ثانية للبنان خلال الفترة من 16-20/1/2008، حيث تابعتُ مباحثاتي مع مختلف المسؤولين والقيادات السياسية اللبنانية، كما قمتُ بزيارة لدمشق لمواصلة مباحثاتي مع المسؤولين السوريين حول مجريات الأزمة اللبنانية وسبل تنفيذ المبادرة العربية وذلك في اللقاءات التي عقدتها يوم 19/1/2008 مع الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية، ومع نائب رئيس الجمهورية السيد فاروق الشرع ووزير الخارجية السيد وليد المعلم، وكذلك في اللقاء الذي عُقد مساء يوم 18/1/2008 في دمشق مع الشيخ حمد بن جاسم بن جبر آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الخارجية لدولة قطر ثم ثلاثيا بحضور الوزير المعلم.
