আর তোমরা যখন বললে , হে মূসা , আমরা একই ধরনের খাদ ্ য-দ ্ রব ্ যে কখনও ধৈর ্ য ্ যধারণ করব না । কাজেই তুমি তোমার পালনকর ্ তার নিকট আমাদের পক ্ ষে প ্ রার ্ থনা কর , তিনি যেন আমাদের জন ্ যে এমন বস ্ তুসামগ ্ রী দান করেন যা জমিতে উৎপন ্ ন হয় , তরকারী , কাকড়ী , গম , মসুরি , পেঁয়াজ প ্ রভৃতি । মূসা ( আঃ ) বললেন , তোমরা কি এমন বস ্ তু নিতে চাও যা নিকৃষ ্ ট সে বস ্ তুর পরিবর ্ তে যা উত ্ তম ? তোমরা কোন নগরীতে উপনীত হও , তাহলেই পাবে যা তোমরা কামনা করছ । আর তাদের উপর আরোপ করা হল লাঞ ্ ছনা ও পরমুখাপেক ্ ষিতা । তারা আল ্ লাহর রোষানলে পতিত হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকল । এমন হলো এ জন ্ য যে , তারা আল ্ লাহর বিধি বিধান মানতো না এবং নবীগনকে অন ্ যায়ভাবে হত ্ যা করত । তার কারণ , তারা ছিল নাফরমান সীমালংঘকারী ।
