(لیکن) تم انہیں مذاق میں ہی اڑاتے رہے یہاں تک کہ (اس مشغلے نے) تم کو میری یاد (بھی) بھلا دی اور تم ان سے مذاق ہی کرتے رہے

but you ridiculed them. so much so that out of (spite) for them you forgot to remember me and laughed at them.
(لیکن) تم انہیں مذاق میں ہی اڑاتے رہے یہاں تک کہ (اس مشغلے نے) تم کو میری یاد (بھی) بھلا دی اور تم ان سے مذاق ہی کرتے رہے

"but ye treated them with ridicule, so much so that (ridicule of) them made you forget my message while ye were laughing at them!
(لیکن) تم انہیں مذاق میں ہی اڑاتے رہے یہاں تک کہ (اس مشغلے نے) تم کو میری یاد (بھی) بھلا دی اور تم ان سے مذاق ہی کرتے رہے

surely qaroun was of the people of musa, but he rebelled against them, and we had given him of the treasures, so much so that his hoards of wealth would certainly weigh down a company of men possessed of great strength. when his people said to him: do not exult, surely allah does not love the exultant;
بیشک قارون موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی قوم سے تھا پھر اس نے لوگوں پر سرکشی کی اور ہم نے اسے اس قدر خزانے عطا کئے تھے کہ اس کی کنجیاں (اٹھانا) ایک بڑی طاقتور جماعت کو دشوار ہوتا تھا، جبکہ اس کی قوم نے اس سے کہا: تُو (خوشی کے مارے) غُرور نہ کر بیشک اللہ اِترانے والوں کو پسند نہیں فرماتا،

indeed they had sought to cause turmoil at the outset, and o dear prophet the scheme turned otherwise* for you, so much so that the truth came and the command of allah appeared, and they disliked it. (* in your favour.)
اس سے پہلے بھی اِن لوگوں نے فتنہ انگیزی کی کوششیں کی ہیں اور تمہیں ناکام کرنے کے لیے یہ ہر طرح کی تدبیروں کا الٹ پھیر کر چکے ہیں یہاں تک کہ ان کی مرضی کے خلاف حق آ گیا اور اللہ کا کام ہو کر رہا

and of them is he who hearkens to you, and we have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: this is naught but the stories of the ancients.
ان میں سے بعض لوگ ایسے ہیں جو کان لگا کر تمہاری بات سنتے ہیں مگر حال یہ ہے کہ ہم نے اُن کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال رکھے ہیں جن کی وجہ سے وہ اس کو کچھ نہیں سمجھتے اور ان کے کانوں میں گرانی ڈال دی ہے (کہ سب کچھ سننے پر بھی کچھ نہیں سنتے) وہ خواہ کوئی نشانی دیکھ لیں، اس پر ایمان لا کر نہ دیں گے حد یہ ہے کہ جب وہ تمہارے پاس آ کر تم سے جھگڑتے ہیں تو ان میں سے جن لوگوں نے انکار کا فیصلہ کر لیا ہے وہ (ساری باتیں سننے کے بعد) یہی کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ایک داستان پارینہ کے سوا کچھ نہیں
