and why call ye me, lord, lord, and do not the things which i say?
ስለ ምን። ጌታ ሆይ፥ ጌታ ሆይ፥ ትሉኛላችሁ፥ የምለውንም አታደርጉም?

why not ? his lord was always watching him .
አይደለም ( ይመለሳል ) ፡ ፡ ጌታው በእርሱ ( መመለስ ) ዐዋቂ ነበር ፤ ( ነውም ) ፡ ፡

and why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
እኛስ ዘወትር በሚያስፈራ ኑሮ የምንኖር ስለ ምንድር ነው?

and why do you have an excessive love of riches ?
ገንዘብንም ብዙን መውደድ ትወዳላችሁ ፡ ፡

and why should i not serve him who originated me , and unto whom you shall be returned ?
« ያንንም የፈጠረኝን ፤ ወደርሱም የምትመለሱበትን ( ጌታ ) የማልገዛ ለእኔ ምን አለኝ ? » ( አለ ) ፡ ፡

surely yes , why not ? indeed his lord is seeing him .
አይደለም ( ይመለሳል ) ፡ ፡ ጌታው በእርሱ ( መመለስ ) ዐዋቂ ነበር ፤ ( ነውም ) ፡ ፡

surely yes , why not ? we can properly make all his phalanxes .
አይደለም ጣቶቹን ( ፊት እንደ ነበሩ ) በማስተካከል ላይ ቻዮች ስንኾን ( እንሰበስባቸዋለን ) ፡ ፡

why have bracelets of gold not been given to him and why have some angels not accompanied him ? "
« በእርሱም ላይ የወርቅ አንባሮች ለምን አልተጣሉበትም ወይም መላእክት ከእርሱ ጋር ተቆራኝተው ለምን አልመጡም » ( አለ ) ፡ ፡

do they fancy that we do not listen to their whispers and their counselling ? why not , we surely do !
ወይም እኛ ምስጢራቸውንና ውይይታቸውን የማንሰማ መኾናችንን ያስባሉን ? አይደለም ፤ መልክተኞቻችንም እነርሱ ዘንድ ይጽፋሉ ፡ ፡

and why have not armlets of gold been bestowed on him and why is there not a train of angels accompanying him ? "
« በእርሱም ላይ የወርቅ አንባሮች ለምን አልተጣሉበትም ወይም መላእክት ከእርሱ ጋር ተቆራኝተው ለምን አልመጡም » ( አለ ) ፡ ፡

and why should we not believe in allah and the truth which has come down to us when we do fervently desire that our lord include us among the righteous ? '
« በአላህና ከውነትም በመጣልን ነገር የማናምን ጌታችንም ከመልካም ሰዎች ጋር ሊያስገባን የማንከጅል ለኛ ምን አለን » ( ይላሉ ) ፡ ፡

" and why should i not worship him ( allah alone ) who has created me and to whom you shall be returned .
« ያንንም የፈጠረኝን ፤ ወደርሱም የምትመለሱበትን ( ጌታ ) የማልገዛ ለእኔ ምን አለኝ ? » ( አለ ) ፡ ፡

have they not realised that allah , who did not tire in creating the heavens and the earth and in creating them , is able to revive the dead ? surely yes , why not ?
ያ ሰማያትንና ምድርን የፈጠረ እነርሱንም በመፍጠሩ ያልደከመው አላህ ሙታንን ሕያው በማድረግ ላይ ቻይ መኾኑን አላስተዋሉምን ? ( በማስነሳት ) ቻይ ነው ፡ ፡ እርሱ በነገሩ ሁሉ ላይ ቻይ ነውና ፡ ፡

and why should allah not punish them , when they have barred others from the sacred mosque , although they were not its guardians ? its only guardians are the cautious , though most of them do not know .
እነሱ ከተከበረው መስጊድ የሚከለክሉ ሲኾኑም አላህ ( በሰይፍ ) የማይቀጣቸው ለነሱ ምን አልላቸው ( የቤቱ ) ጠባቂዎችም አልነበሩም ፡ ፡ ጠባቂዎቹ ( ክሕደትን ) ተጠንቃቂዎቹ እንጂ ሌሎቹ አይደሉም ፡ ፡ ግን አብዛኛዎቻቸው አያውቁም ፡ ፡

and why is it that you do not spend in the cause of god , when to god belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth ? not equal among you are those who contributed before the conquest , and fought .
የሰማያትና የምድር ውርስ ለአላህ ሲኾን በአላህ መንገድ የማትለግሱትም ለእናንተ ምን አልላችሁ ? ከእናንተ ውስጥ ( መካን ) ከመክፈት በፊት የለገሰና የተጋደለ ሰው ( ከተከፈተች በኋላ ከለገሰና ከተጋደለ ጋር ) አይስተካከልም ፡ ፡ ከእነዚያ በኋላ ከለገሱትና ከተጋደሉት እነዚህ በደረጃ በጣም የላቁ ናቸው ፡ ፡ ሁሉንም አላህ መልካሚቱን ተስፋ ቃል ገብቶላቸዋል ፡ ፡ አላህም በምትሠሩት ሁሉ ውስጠ ዐዋቂ ነው ፡ ፡

and why did you not , when you heard it , say : it does not beseem us that we should talk of it ; glory be to thee ! this is a great calumny ?
በሰማችሁትም ጊዜ በዚህ ልንናገር ለእኛ አይገባንም ፡ ፡ ጥራት ይገባህ ፡ ፡ ይህ ከባድ ቅጥፈት ነው ፤ አትሉም ነበርን

and why did you , when you entered your garden , not say , ' what allah willed [ has occurred ] ; there is no power except in allah ' ? although you see me less than you in wealth and children ,
« አትክልትህንም በገባህ ጊዜ አላህ የሻው ይኾናል ፤ በአላህ ቢኾን እንጂ ኀይል የለም ፤ አትልም ኖሯልን እኔን በገንዘብም በልጅም ካንተ በጣም ያነስኩ ሆኜ ብታየኝ ፡ ፡

and why is it that you do not spend in the way of allah , when the inheritance of the heavens and earth belong to allah alone ? those who spent before the victory and took part in the fighting are mightier in rank and are not equal to those who spent and fought thereafter .
የሰማያትና የምድር ውርስ ለአላህ ሲኾን በአላህ መንገድ የማትለግሱትም ለእናንተ ምን አልላችሁ ? ከእናንተ ውስጥ ( መካን ) ከመክፈት በፊት የለገሰና የተጋደለ ሰው ( ከተከፈተች በኋላ ከለገሰና ከተጋደለ ጋር ) አይስተካከልም ፡ ፡ ከእነዚያ በኋላ ከለገሱትና ከተጋደሉት እነዚህ በደረጃ በጣም የላቁ ናቸው ፡ ፡ ሁሉንም አላህ መልካሚቱን ተስፋ ቃል ገብቶላቸዋል ፡ ፡ አላህም በምትሠሩት ሁሉ ውስጠ ዐዋቂ ነው ፡ ፡

and why was it not that , when you heard it , you would have said , “ it does not befit us to speak regarding this ; purity is to you , o allah this – is a great accusation . ”
በሰማችሁትም ጊዜ በዚህ ልንናገር ለእኛ አይገባንም ፡ ፡ ጥራት ይገባህ ፡ ፡ ይህ ከባድ ቅጥፈት ነው ፤ አትሉም ነበርን

( saleh ) said : " o people , why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good ? why not ask for god 's forgiveness ?
« ሕዝቦቼ ሆይ ! ከመልካሙ በፊት በክፉው ( ቅጣትን አምጣብን በማለት ) ለምን ታስቸኩላላችሀ ይታዘንላችሁ ዘንድ አላህን ምሕረትን አትለምኑምን » አላቸው ፡ ፡
