summary and conclusion onion (allium cepa l.) and garlic (allium sativum l.) are the most important commercial crops grown all over the world, consumed in many forms. in egypt, the garlic and onion plants are affected by many pests , the most serious of which is onion thrips, thrips tabaci lindeman, (thysanoptera: thripidae). recently, the onion thrips can be considered as a limiting factor for the bulb plants yield, reducing its quality and quantity. moreover, the thrips found development of resistance to insecticides that led to difficult to control. so, it is necessary to develop a research program aimed at finding alternative management strategies for thrips tabaci control. the present study was carried out during 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons at horticulture research station, in al-quassassine, ismailia, egypt and aimed to: 1- study of seasonal occurrence and population dynamic of onion thrips on onion and garlic plants. 2- compare of onion and garlic cultivars suitability to onion thrips infestation under field condition. 3- assess the influencing of npk fertilization on the tolerance of tested plants to onion thrips infestation. 4- assessment of economic threshold (et) and economic injury (ei) levels using marking plants and pesticide use techniques5- evaluate the efficiency of bio-products and chemical pesticides against onion thrips on the two tested crops. 1. population density of onion thrips thrips tabaci lind. on onion and garlic plants: 1.1. population density of t. tabaci on onion varieties: the population density of onion thrips, thrips tabaci lind. was estimated on onion and garlic varieties plants during the two successive seasons of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 at horticulture research station at al quassassine district, ismailia government.
