there shall be no compulsion in religion ; the right way has become distinct from the wrong way . whoever renounces evil and believes in god has grasped the most trustworthy handle ; which does not break .
দ ্ বীনের ব ্ যাপারে কোন জবরদস ্ তি বা বাধ ্ য-বাধকতা নেই । নিঃসন ্ দেহে হেদায়াত গোমরাহী থেকে পৃথক হয়ে গেছে । এখন যারা গোমরাহকারী ‘ তাগুত ’ দেরকে মানবে না এবং আল ্ লাহতে বিশ ্ বাস স ্ থাপন করবে , সে ধারণ করে নিয়েছে সুদৃঢ় হাতল যা ভাংবার নয় । আর আল ্ লাহ সবই শুনেন এবং জানেন ।

o you who have believed , it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion . and do not make difficulties for them in order to take [ back ] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality .
ওহে যারা ঈমান এনেছ ! তোমাদের জন ্ য বৈধ নয় যে তোমরা স ্ ত ্ রীদের জবরদস ্ তি উত ্ তরাধিকার-সূত ্ রে গ ্ রহণ করবে । আর তাদের উপরে জোরজুলুম করো না তোমরা যা তাদের দিয়েছ তার অংশ বিশেষ ফিরে পাবার জন ্ য , যদি না তারা জাজ ্ জ ্ বল ্ যমান অশ ্ লীল আচরণে লিপ ্ ত হয় । আর তাদের প ্ রতি সদয় ব ্ যবহার করো । অবশ ্ য যদি তোমরা তাদের ঘৃণা করো তবে হতে পারে তোমরা এমন একটা কিছু অপছন ্ দ করলে অথচ আল ্ লাহ ্ তার মধ ্ যে প ্ রচুর কল ্ যাণ নিহিত রেখেছেন ।

and force not your maids to prostitution , if they desire chastity , in order that you may make a gain in the ( perishable ) goods of this worldly life . but if anyone compels them ( to prostitution ) , then after such compulsion , allah is oft-forgiving , most merciful ( to those women , i.e. he will forgive them because they have been forced to do this evil action unwillingly ) .
আর যারা বিবাহের পাত ্ রপাত ্ রী খোঁজে পায় না তারা যেন সংযত হয়ে চলে যতক ্ ষণ না আল ্ লাহ ্ তাঁর করুণাভান ্ ডার থেকে তাদের সম ্ পদ দান করেন । আর তোমাদের ডানহাতে যাদের ধরে রেখেছে তাদের মধ ্ যের যারা নিখাপড়া চায় তাদের তবে লিখে দাও যদি তাদের মধ ্ যে কল ্ যাণকর কিছু থাকা সন ্ বন ্ ধে জানতে পার , আর তিনি তোমাদের যা দিয়েছেন আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র সেই ধন থেকে তাদের দান করো । আর তোমাদের দাসী-বাঁদীদের বেশ ্ যাবৃত ্ তিতে বাধ ্ য কর না পার ্ থিব জীবনের নশ ্ বর বস ্ তু কামনা ক ’ রে যদি তারা সচ ্ চরিত ্ র থাকা পছন ্ দ করে । আর যে কেউ তাদের বাধ ্ য করে সেক ্ ষেত ্ রে তাদের প ্ রতি জবরদস ্ তির পরে আল ্ লাহ ্ নিশ ্ চয়ই ক ্ ষমাকারী , অফুরন ্ ত ফলদাতা ।
