firstly, the document seeks to offer an insight on the most relevant social and economic trends that affect gender transport demand and determine the main differences in women’s travel patterns: shorter distances, more use of public transportation, more non-work travel outside rush hours and more multi-stop trips. in the second section the document investigates the policies that have been adopted in different contexts across europe in favour of gender-sensitive transport planning and in the last section it formulates some recommendations in relation to some key-priority issues: the enhancement of knowledge on the theme (need for updated gender data and statistics), the support of women’s participation in decision-making, the services improvement (tariffs, timetables, routes and stops) for all categories of users (with particular attention to women, children and elderly) in relation to accessibility, safety and comfort of transport modes and the planning of transport services in response to gender needs.
il documento dapprima individua e riassume i principali trend sociali ed economici che agiscono sulla determinazione della domanda di genere, delineandone le principali caratteristiche. nella seconda parte è offerta una ricognizione delle esperienze europee di successo nell’ambito della pianificazione di genere, per poi identificare nell’ultima parte le tre aree di intervento considerate prioritarie in un’ottica di genere a cui ricondurre le azioni e politiche di intervento: incrementare il livello di conoscenza del tema (necessità di dati e statistiche costantemente aggiornati e dettagliati per genere), adeguare l’offerta di servizi di mobilità (tariffazione, orari, percorsi e fermate) destinati a soddisfare le esigenze di tutti i gruppi (con particolare attenzione alla componente femminile e alle categorie di utenza più svantaggiate come bambini e anziani), ripensare la pianificazione della mobilità urbana e dello spazio pubblico ispirandola sempre più a criteri di accessibilità e di sostenibilità, migliorando la qualità e la sicurezza dei percorsi (ciclabili e pedonali) di accesso al trasporto pubblico.
