அவர்கள் படிப்பினை பெறுவதற்காக அவர்களுக்கு இதனை (குர்ஆனை) நாம் தெளிவு படுத்துகிறோம். மனிதர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் நிராகரிப்போராகவே இருக்கின்றனர்.

disdaining ungratefully our gifts, and giving themselves up to (worldly) enjoyment! but soon will they know.
அவர்கள், நாம் அவர்களுக்கு அளித்துள்ளவற்றுக்கு மாறு செய்து கொண்டு, (இவ்வுலகின் அற்ப) சுகங்களை அனுபவிக்கட்டும் - ஆனால் (தம் தீச்செயல்களின் பயனை) அறிந்து கொள்வார்கள்.

that was the requital we gave them because they ungratefully rejected faith: and never do we give (such) requital except to such as are ungrateful rejecters.
அவர்கள் நிராகரித்ததன் காரணமாக அவர்களுக்கு இக்கூலியை, நாம் கொடுத்தோம். (நன்றி மறந்து) நிராகரித்தோருக்கன்றி வேறெவருக்கும் நாம் (இத்தகைய) கூலியைக் கொடுப்போமா?

do they not see that we have given them a sanctuary of safety whereas people around them are being snatched away? so, do they believe in falsehood and ungratefully deny allah's bounties?
அன்றியும் (மக்காவைச்) சூழவுள்ள மனிதர்கள் (பகைவர்களால்) இறஞ்சிச் செல்லப்படும் நிலையில் (இதை) நாம் பாதுகாப்பான புனிதத் தலமாக ஆக்கியிருப்பதை அவர்கள் பார்க்கவில்லையா? இன்னும், அவர்கள் பொய்யானவற்றை நம்பி, அல்லாஹ்வின் அருட்கொடையை நிராகரிக்கிறார்களா?

and allah propoundeth a similitude: a town which was secure and at rest, to which came the provision thereof plenteously from every place; then it ungratefully denied the favours of allah; wherefore allah made it taste the extreme of hunger and fear because of that which they were wont to perform.
மேலும், அல்லாஹ் ஓர் ஊரை (அவர்களுக்கு) உதாரணங் கூறுகிறான்; அது அச்சமில்லாதும், நிம்மதியுடனும் இருந்தது, அதன் உணவு(ம் மற்றும் வாழ்க்கை)ப் பொருட்கள் யாவும் ஒவ்வோரிடத்திலிருந்தும் ஏராளமாக வந்து கொண்டிருந்தன - ஆனால் (அவ்வூர்) அல்லாஹ்வின் அருட் கொடைகளுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தாமல் மாறு செய்தது ஆகவே, அவ்வூரார் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த (தீச்) செயல்களின் காரணமாக, அல்லாஹ் பசியையும் பயத்தையும் அவர்களுக்கு ஆடையாக (அணிவித்து அவற்றை) அனுபவிக்குமாறு செய்தான்.
