เรามิได้ทำลายเมืองใด นอกจากว่าได้มีกำหนดเป็นที่รู้กันแก่มันแล้ว

and we made it a deterrent punishment for those who were present and those who succeeded [them] and a lesson for those who fear allah.
แล้วเราได้ให้การลงโทษนั้นเป็นเยี่ยงอย่างแก่ประชาชาติที่อยู่เบื้องหน้ามัน และประชาชาติที่อยู่เบื้องหลังมัน และให้เป็นข้อเตือนสติแก่ผู้เกรงกลัวทั้งหลาย

allah causeth the revolution of the day and the night. lo! herein is indeed a lesson for those who see.

see what kinds of comparisons they make for thee! but they have gone astray, and never a way will they be able to find!
จงดูเถิด! พวกเขาได้เปรียบเปรยตัวอย่างต่างๆ แก่เจ้า (มุฮัมมัด) อย่างไร? พวกเขาจึงหลงทางแล้วพวกเขาก็ไม่สามารถจะพบทางแห่งความจริงได้

all these are to serve as eye openers and as a lesson to every being who is prone to turn (to the truth).
เพื่อให้เป็นที่สังเกตและเป็นการเตือนให้รำลึกแก่บ่าวทุกคนผู้สำนึกผิด

and the faces shall be humbled before the living, the self-subsistent allah, and he who bears iniquity is indeed a failure.
และใบหน้าทั้งหลาย ได้สยบลงต่อพระผู้ทรงเป็นอยู่เสมอ พระผู้ทรงอมตะ และแน่นอน ผู้ที่แบกเอาความอธรรมไว้ (ชิริก)ต้องประสบกับการขาดทุนอย่างแน่นอน
