peter black : do you agree that , in the absence of a detailed case from the university authorities in support of the closure of the four departments , the assembly government should be more actively involved in the campaign to keep them open ? given that the four departments have seen an increase in applications in the last year , that the chemistry department has been at the forefront in terms of offering degrees with industrial placements , that the centre for development studies attracts a tenth of the university's postgraduates , and that the philosophy department is the only stand-alone department of its kind in wales , do you agree that the vice chancellor's proposals will undermine the educational provision currently available at the college and detract from the its academic reputation ?
