በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

and persisted in the great sin
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

but persisted in that greater sin ,
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

and had persisted in the great sin .
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

and they persisted in the great violation .
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

and persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme !
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

we indulged and persisted in useless disputes ,
« ከዘባራቂዎቹም ጋር እንዘባርቅ ነበርን ፡ ፡

we sent them our signs , but they persisted in turning away from them .
ተዓምራታችንንም ሰጠናቸው ፡ ፡ ከእርሷም ዘንጊዎች ነበሩ ፡ ፡

the pharaoh , those who lived before him and the people of the subverted cities all persisted in doing evil .
ፈርዖን ከበፊቱ የነበሩትም ሰዎች ተገልባጮቹም ( ከተሞች ) በኀጢአት ( ሥራዎች ) መጡ ፡ ፡

and when they persisted in pursuing that which had been forbidden we said : ' become despised apes . '
ከእርሱም ከተከለከሉት ነገር በኮሩ ጊዜ ለእነሱ « ወረዶች ዝንጀሮች ኹኑ አልን ፤ » ( ኾኑም ) ፡ ፡

and when they had scornfully persisted in what they had been forbidden , we said to them : ' be apes , despised '
ከእርሱም ከተከለከሉት ነገር በኮሩ ጊዜ ለእነሱ « ወረዶች ዝንጀሮች ኹኑ አልን ፤ » ( ኾኑም ) ፡ ፡

each time i called them so that you might forgive them , they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments , and persisted becomingvery proud .
« እኔም ለእነርሱ ትምር ዘንድ ( ወደ እምነት ) በጠራኋቸው ቁጥር ጣቶቻቸውን በጆሮዎቻቸው ውስጥ አደረጉ ፡ ፡ ልብሶቻቸውንም ተከናነቡ ፡ ፡ ( በመጥፎ ሥራቸው ላይ ) ዘወተሩም ፡ ፡ ( ያለ ልክ ) መኩራትንም ኮሩ ፡ ፡

therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden , we said to them : be ( as ) apes , despised and hated .
ከእርሱም ከተከለከሉት ነገር በኮሩ ጊዜ ለእነሱ « ወረዶች ዝንጀሮች ኹኑ አልን ፤ » ( ኾኑም ) ፡ ፡

curses were pronounced on those among the children of israel who rejected faith , by the tongue of david and of jesus the son of mary : because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses .
ከእስራኤል ልጆች እነዚያ የካዱት በዳውድና በመርየም ልጅ በዒሳ ምላስ ተረገሙ ፡ ፡ ይህ ትእዛዝን በመጣሳቸውና ወሰንን የሚያልፉ በመኾናቸው ነው ፡ ፡

and then , when they disdainfully persisted in doing what they had been forbidden to do , we said to them , " be as apes , despised ! "
ከእርሱም ከተከለከሉት ነገር በኮሩ ጊዜ ለእነሱ « ወረዶች ዝንጀሮች ኹኑ አልን ፤ » ( ኾኑም ) ፡ ፡

and they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly , while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth . observe , then , how evil was the fate of the evil-doers .
ነፍሶቻቸውም ያረጋገጧት ሲኾኑ ለበደልና ለኩራት በእርሷ ካዱ ፡ ፡ የአመጸኞችም ፍጻሜ እንዴት እንደ ነበረ ተመልከት ፡ ፡

" and verily ! every time i called unto them that you might forgive them , they thrust their fingers into their ears , covered themselves up with their garments , and persisted ( in their refusal ) , and magnified themselves in pride .
« እኔም ለእነርሱ ትምር ዘንድ ( ወደ እምነት ) በጠራኋቸው ቁጥር ጣቶቻቸውን በጆሮዎቻቸው ውስጥ አደረጉ ፡ ፡ ልብሶቻቸውንም ተከናነቡ ፡ ፡ ( በመጥፎ ሥራቸው ላይ ) ዘወተሩም ፡ ፡ ( ያለ ልክ ) መኩራትንም ኮሩ ፡ ፡
