«Երկրի վրայ կրակ գցելու եկայ. եւ ինչքա՜ն եմ կամենում, որ արդէն իսկ բորբոքուած լինի:

Նրան պատասխանեցին եւ ասացին. «Եթէ այս մարդը չարագործ չլինէր, ապա նրան քո ձեռքը չէինք մատնի»:

Այն ժամանակ օրէնսգէտներից եւ փարիսեցիներից ոմանք նրան պատասխան տուեցին ու ասացին. «Վարդապե՛տ, քեզնից մի նշան ենք կամենում տեսնել»:

and say, if we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
«Եթէ մենք մեր հայրերի օրօք լինէինք, մարգարէների սպանութեանը մասնակից չէինք լինի»:

Զեբեդէոսի որդիները՝ Յակոբոսը եւ Յովհաննէսը, գնացին նրա մօտ եւ ասացին նրան. «Վարդապե՛տ, ինչ որ քեզնից պիտի խնդրենք, կամենում ենք, որ անես մեզ համար»:

Նա իր մօտ կանչեց Տասներկուսին եւ սկսեց ուղարկել նրանց երկու-երկու ու պիղծ ոգիների վրայ նրանց իշխանութիւն տուեց:

and they said one to another, we are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
Նրանք այդպէս էլ արեցին: Նրանք՝ եղբայրները, միմեանց ասացին. «Այո՛, մենք մեր եղբօր նկատմամբ մեղաւոր ենք, որովհետեւ անտեսեցինք նրա հոգու մղձաւանջը, երբ նա մեզ աղաչում էր, իսկ մենք նրան չլսեցինք: Դրա համար էլ մեր գլխին է իջնում այս պատուհասը»:
