25. the tunas included in annex i to the convention are: albacore tuna (thunnus alalunga), which occurs in tropical and temperate waters; bluefin tuna15 (thunnus thynnus), mostly found in temperate waters of the atlantic ocean, including the mediterranean sea and the pacific ocean; bigeye tuna (thunnus obesus), found in the atlantic, indian and pacific oceans; skipjack tuna (katsuwonus pelamis), with a worldwide distribution in tropical and temperate waters; yellowfin tuna (thunnus albacares), also with a worldwide distribution in tropical and subtropical more temperate seas; blackfin tuna (thunnus atlanticus), found in the west atlantic in tropical and warm seas; little tunny (euthynnus alletteratus),16 found in tropical and subtropical waters of the atlantic and the mediterranean, the black sea, the caribbean sea and the gulf of mexico, and kawakawa (euthynnus affinis) found in the indian and pacific oceans; southern bluefin tuna (thunnus maccoyii), found in temperate waters of the southern hemisphere in the atlantic, indian and pacific oceans; and frigate mackerel tuna (auxis thazard and a. rochei)17 found in the atlantic (auxis thazard does not occur in the mediterranean sea), indian and pacific oceans.
