who, when there afflicteth them an affliction, say: verily we are allah's, and verily unto him we are returners.
koji, kad ih zadesi nesreća kažu: "uistinu, mi smo allahovi i uistinu, mi smo njemu povratnici."

if allah afflicteth thee with some hurt, there is none who can remove it save him; and if he desireth good for thee, there is none who can repel his bounty.
a ako te dotakne allah nevoljom, tad nema otklonitelja njenog, osim njega; a ako ti želi dobro, tad nema onog ko će odbiti dobrotu njegovu.

and he sendeth down from the heaven mountains wherein is hail, then afflicteth therewith whomsoever he will, and averteth it from whomsoever he will: wellnigh the flash of his lightening taketh away the sights.
i spušta iz neba, s brda (oblaka) u njemu nešto grada, pa pogađa njime koga hoće, a otklanja od koga hoće. skoro da bljesak munje njegove oduzme vidove.

ako ti allah dade kakvu nevolju, niko je osim njega ne može otkloniti, a ako ti zaželi dobro – pa, niko ne može blagodat njegovu spriječiti; on njome nagrađuje onoga koga hoće od robova svojih; on prašta i milostiv je."

beholdest thou not that allah driveth a cloud along, then combineth it, then maketh it a heap, and then thou beholdest the fine rain come forth from the interstices thereof? and he sendeth down from the heaven mountains wherein is hail, then afflicteth therewith whomsoever he will, and averteth it from whomsoever he will: wellnigh the flash of his lightening taketh away the sights.
zar ne vidiš da allah razgoni oblake, i onda ih spaja i jedne nad drugima gomila, pa ti vidiš kišu kako iz njih pada; on s neba, iz oblaka veličine brda, spušta grad, pa njime koga hoće pogodi, a koga hoće poštedi – bljesak munje njegove gotovo da oduzme vid.
