in verità vi dico: tutto quello che legherete sopra la terra sarà legato anche in cielo e tutto quello che scioglierete sopra la terra sarà sciolto anche in cielo.
i solemnly tell you that whatever you as a church bind on earth will in heaven be held as bound, and whatever you loose on earth will in heaven be held to be loosed.

18 vi metterete dunque nel cuore e nell'anima queste mie parole; ve le legherete alla mano come un segnale e vi saranno come frontali tra gli occhi;

nel capitolo 18 del vangelo secondo matteo, dedicato alla vita della comunità ecclesiale, troviamo un altro detto di gesù rivolto ai discepoli: «in verità vi dico: tutto quello che legherete sulla terra sarà legato in cielo, e tutto quello che scioglierete sulla terra sarà sciolto in cielo» (mt 18,18).
in chapter 18 of matthew’s gospel, dedicated to the life of the ecclesial community, we find another saying of jesus addressed to the disciples: “truly i say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (mt 18:18).
