5th september 2005 – todays start is nice and easy under a cloudless sky. on a fairly level straight stretch of road do we drive along the bhaga river to the checkpoint by darcha. darcha is the last village in the lahaul valley before the next high pass. after darch the next ascend to the pass barlacha la in 4830m begins. after a short climb do we have a magnificent view over the river delta by darchau. climbing up by mountain bike we pass the military camp of patseo.
5. september 2005 - der heutige tag fängt locker an. unter strahlend blauem himmel geht die fahrt mit den mountainbikes gerade aus dem bhaga river entlang bis zum checkpoint bei darcha. darcha ist die letzte ansiedung im lahaul valley bevor es über die ganz grossen pässe geht. ab hier beginnt der aufstieg zum 4830 meter hohen pass baralacha la. schon nach kurzem anstieg hat man einen überwältigeden ausblick auf das flussdelta bei darcha. immer weiter geht's bergauf, vorbei an patseo einem grossen militärlager.
