who will enter the great fire and made to taste its burning,
அவன் தான் பெரும் நெருப்பில் புகுவான்.

and cite for them the parable of the landlords of the town—when the messengers came to it.
(நபியே! நம்) தூதர்கள் ஓர் ஊர்வாசிகளிடம் வந்த(போது நிகழ்ந்த)தை அவர்களுக்கு உதாரணமாகச் சொல்வீராக.

and present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it -
(நபியே! நம்) தூதர்கள் ஓர் ஊர்வாசிகளிடம் வந்த(போது நிகழ்ந்த)தை அவர்களுக்கு உதாரணமாகச் சொல்வீராக.

but when the truth came to them, they said: "this is sorcery, and we do reject it."
ஆனால், உண்மை (வேதம்) அவர்களிடம் வந்த போது "இது சூனியமே தான்; நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் இதை நிராகரிக்கின்றோம்" என்று அவர்கள் கூறினர்.

and when the truth came to them, they said, 'this is a sorcery, and in it we are unbelievers.'
ஆனால், உண்மை (வேதம்) அவர்களிடம் வந்த போது "இது சூனியமே தான்; நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் இதை நிராகரிக்கின்றோம்" என்று அவர்கள் கூறினர்.

and when the truth came to them from us, they said, “this is clearly sorcery.”
நம்மிடமிருந்து அவர்களுக்குச் சத்தியம் வந்த போது, "நிச்சயமாக இது தெளிவான சூனியமே யாகும்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

and shall enter a blazing fire, and made to taste its burning.
அவன் நரகத்தில் புகுவான்.

but when the truth came to them, they said, "this is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."

(நபியே! நம்) தூதர்கள் ஓர் ஊர்வாசிகளிடம் வந்த(போது நிகழ்ந்த)தை அவர்களுக்கு உதாரணமாகச் சொல்வீராக.

when the angels came to him and said, “peace"; he said, “we feel afraid of you.”
அவர்கள் அவரிடம் வந்து, "உங்களுக்குச் சாந்தி (ஸலாமுன்) உண்டாவதாக!" என்று சொன்ன போது அவர், "நாம் உங்களைப்பற்றி பயப்படுகிறோம்" என்று கூறினார்.

so, when the awe departed from abraham and the good tidings came to him, he was disputing with us concerning the people of lot;
(இது கேட்டு) இப்றாஹீமை விட்டுப் பயம் நீங்கி, நன்மாராயம் அவருக்கு வந்ததும் லூத்துடைய சமூகத்தாரைப் பற்றி நம்மிடம் வாதிடலானார்.

and naught prevented men from believing when the guidance came to them, but that they said, 'has god sent forth a mortal as messenger?'
மனிதர்களிடம் நேர்வழி (காட்டி) வந்த போது, "ஒரு மனிதரையா அல்லாஹ் (தன்) தூதராக அனுப்பினான்" என்று கூறுவதைத் தவிர அவர்கள் ஈமான் கொள்வதை வேறெதுவும் தடுக்கவில்லை.

but when the bearer of good tidings came to him, and laid it on his face, forthwith he saw once again. he said, 'did i not tell you i know from god that you know not?'
