ከዋክብትም ( ብርሃንዋ ) በታበሰች ጊዜ ፡ ፡

if only the people of the book had believed and been righteous , we should indeed have blotted out their iniquities and admitted them to gardens of bliss .
የመጽሐፉም ባለቤቶች ባመኑና ( ከክህደትም ) በተጠነቀቁ ኖሮ ከእነሱ ኃጢኣቶቻቸውን በእርግጥ ባበስንና የመጠቀሚያ ገነቶችንም በእርግጥ ባገባናቸው ነበር ፡ ፡

had we wished we would have blotted out their eyes : then , were they to advance towards the path , how would have they seen ?
ብንሻም ኖሮ በዐይኖቻቸው ላይ በአበስን ነበር ፡ ፡ መንገድንም ( እንደ ልመዳቸው ) በተሽቀዳደሙ ነበር ፡ ፡ እንዴትም ያያሉ ?

repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the lord;
እንግዲህ ከጌታ ፊት የመጽናናት ዘመን እንድትመጣላችሁ አስቀድሞም ለእናንተ የመረጠውን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስን እንዲልክላችሁ፥ ኃጢአታችሁ ይደመሰስ ዘንድ ንስሐ ግቡ ተመለሱም።

if it had been our will , we could surely have blotted out their eyes ; then should they have run about groping for the path , but how could they have seen ?

ሌሊትንና ቀንንም ( ለችሎታችን ) ምልክቶች አደረግን ፡ ፡ የሌሊትን ምልክትም አበስን ፡ ፡ የቀንን ምልክትም የምታሳይ አደረግን ፡ ፡ ( ይህም የኾነበት ) ከጌታችሁ ትርፍን ልትፈልጉ የዓመታትንም ቁጥርና ሒሳብንም ታውቁ ዘንድ ነው ፡ ፡ ነገሩንም ሁሉ ለያይተን ዘረዘርነው ፡ ፡

and if only the people of the scripture ( jews and christians ) had believed ( in muhammad saw ) and warded off evil ( sin , ascribing partners to allah ) and had become al-muttaqun ( the pious - see v. 2 : 2 ) we would indeed have blotted out their sins and admitted them to gardens of pleasure ( in paradise ) .
