the invention provides a method and configuration in order to effect an interruption-free power supply operation of a system unit (hdd) in a computer system with a plurality of station computers (sa; sb), said computers commonly sharing the system unit (hdd), without being limited to a local location. according to the invention, each of the respective station computers (sa; sb) is operated with appropriate interruption-free power supplies (usva; usvb). in order to supply power to the common shared system unit (hdd), said common shared system unit (hdd) is connected to an active interruption-free power supply (e.g. usvb) via an automatically reversing commutator (pcs) which monitors the voltage at the inputs thereof.
