do you not see that allah sent down water from the sky, then made it flow on earth as springs and streams and rivers and then with it he brings forth vegetation of various hues; then this vegetation ripens and dries up, turning yellow, whereafter he reduces it to broken straw? surely there is a lesson in this for those endowed with understanding.
(اے انسان!) کیا تو نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا، پھر زمین میں اس کے چشمے رواں کیے، پھر اس کے ذریعے کھیتی پیدا کرتا ہے جس کے رنگ جداگانہ ہوتے ہیں، پھر وہ (تیار ہوکر) خشک ہو جاتی ہے، پھر (پکنے کے بعد) تو اسے زرد دیکھتا ہے، پھر وہ اسے چورا چورا کر دیتا ہے، بے شک اس میں عقل والوں کے لئے نصیحت ہے،

indeed there was a sign for you in the two hosts (which) met together in encounter; one party fighting in the way of allah and the other unbelieving, whom they saw twice as many as themselves with the sight of the eye and allah strengthens with his aid whom he pleases; most surely there is a lesson in this for those who have sight.
بیشک تمہارے لئے ان دو جماعتوں میں ایک نشانی ہے (جو میدانِ بدر میں) آپس میں مقابل ہوئیں، ایک جماعت نے اﷲ کی راہ میں جنگ کی اور دوسری کافر تھی وہ انہیں (اپنی) آنکھوں سے اپنے سے دوگنا دیکھ رہے تھے، اور اﷲ اپنی مدد کے ذریعے جسے چاہتا ہے تقویت دیتا ہے، یقینا اس واقعہ میں آنکھ والوں کے لئے (بڑی) عبرت ہے،

and in the taurat, we made it obligatory upon them that, “a life (is the retribution) for a life, and an eye for an eye, and a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, and a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is a retribution”; then whoever willingly agrees to retribution, it shall redeem him of his sin; and whoever does not judge according to what is sent down by allah – it is they who are the unjust.
اور ہم نے اس (تورات) میں ان پر فرض کردیا تھا کہ جان کے بدلے جان اور آنکھ کے عوض آنکھ اور ناک کے بدلے ناک اور کان کے عوض کان اور دانت کے بدلے دانت اور زخموں میں (بھی) بدلہ ہے، تو جو شخص اس (قصاص) کو صدقہ (یعنی معاف) کر دے تو یہ اس (کے گناہوں) کے لئے کفارہ ہوگا، اور جو شخص اللہ کے نازل کردہ حکم کے مطابق فیصلہ (و حکومت) نہ کرے سو وہی لوگ ظالم ہیں،
