please be advised that we have experienced several attempts to extract money from kone by using false information and identities. these attempts have included false invoices, signatures and people impersonating kone senior management. please be aware of any abnormal invoices and payment instructions as well as any suspicious calls where somebody is trying to impersonate kone directors. kone standard processes and controls must always be followed regardless of the amount or the person instructing the payment. additional caution must be exercised in case the request, invoice, amount or party receiving is abnormal or deviating from day-to-day activities. all units must now ensure that their invoice/payment verification and approval practices are adequate and in line with kone processes and instructions. due care must always be observed in invoice/payment approvals and controls related to outgoing payment processes. payment instructions can never be accepted via phone or email. one-time payments needs have a valid document which has been duly signed by authorized persons. in addition payments can never be approved by a person not familiar with the matter to which the payment relates. in the event you or anyone in your organization receives any dubious payment instruction or invoice or is contacted by somebody trying to impersonate a kone director please immediately contact your own legal counsel or global legal as well as your area controller. please also save any telephone numbers or e-mails which may have been used and all the relevant documents such as the invoices received
