በተዘረጋ ጥላ ሥርም ፡ ፡

in the past day
ባለፈው አንድ ቀን

on an unfortunate day we sent upon them a continuous violent wind
እኛ በእነርሱ ላይ ዘወትር መናጢ በኾነ ቀን በኀይል የምትንሻሻ ነፋስን ላክንባቸው ፡ ፡

glad for their effort past ,
ለሥራቸው ተደሳቾች ናቸው ፡ ፡

and we sent against them a howling wind in a day of continuous of ill fortune
እኛ በእነርሱ ላይ ዘወትር መናጢ በኾነ ቀን በኀይል የምትንሻሻ ነፋስን ላክንባቸው ፡ ፡

we let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen , continuous ,
እኛ በእነርሱ ላይ ዘወትር መናጢ በኾነ ቀን በኀይል የምትንሻሻ ነፋስን ላክንባቸው ፡ ፡

verily we ! we sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous .
እኛ በእነርሱ ላይ ዘወትር መናጢ በኾነ ቀን በኀይል የምትንሻሻ ነፋስን ላክንባቸው ፡ ፡

yet if they see a sign they turn away , and they say ' a continuous sorcery ! '
ተዓምርንም ቢያዩ ( ከእምነት ) ይዞራሉ ፡ ፡ ( ይህ ) « ዘውታሪ ድግምት ነውም » ይላሉ ፡ ፡

from bad past into a better presence then to best future
ከመጥፎ ጊዜ ወደ ምርጥ የወደፊት ጊዜ

and if they see a sign , they turn away , and say : " this is continuous magic . "
ተዓምርንም ቢያዩ ( ከእምነት ) ይዞራሉ ፡ ፡ ( ይህ ) « ዘውታሪ ድግምት ነውም » ይላሉ ፡ ፡

and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past .
ለሥራቸው ተደሳቾች ናቸው ፡ ፡

and said , “ this is nothing but magic from the past .
አለም « ይህ ( ከሌላ ) የሚቀዳ ድግምት እንጅ ሌላ አይደለም ፡ ፡

a reward for the deeds of their past ( life ) .
በዚያ ይሠሩት በነበሩት ምክንያት ዋጋ ይኾን ዘንድ ( ይህንን አደረግንላቸው ) ፡ ፡

and made them a thing of the past and an example for those who would come after them .
( በጥፋት ) ቀዳሚዎችና ለኋለኞቹ ( መቀጣጫ ) ምሳሌም አደረግናቸው ፡ ፡

and he subjected for you the sun and the moon , continuous [ in orbit ] , and subjected for you the night and the day .
ፀሐይንና ጨረቃንም ዘወትር ኼያጆች ሲኾኑ ለእናንተ የገራ ሌሊትንና ቀንንም ለእናንተ የገራላችሁ ነው ፡ ፡

and so we narrate to you the stories of the past , and we have given you a remembrance from us .
እንደዚሁ በእርግጥ ካለፉት ወሬዎች ባንተ ላይ እንተርካለን ፡ ፡ ከእኛም ዘንድ ቁረኣንን በእርግጥ ሰጠንህ ፡ ፡

and this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me : that thou hast enslaved the children of israel .
« ይህችም የእስራኤልን ልጆች ባሪያ በማድረግህ በእኔ ላይ የምትመጻደቅባት ጸጋ ነት ፡ ፡ »
