アブサロムはヨアブに言った、「わたしはあなたに人をつかわして、ここへ来るようにと言ったのです。あなたを王のもとにつかわし、『なんのためにわたしはゲシュルからきたのですか。なおあそこにいたならば良かったでしょうに』と言わせようとしたのです。それゆえ今わたしに王の顔を見させてください。もしわたしに罪があるなら王にわたしを殺させてください」。
