for a reminder ; and never did we wrong .
( ይህች ) ግሳፄ ናት ፡ ፡ በዳዮችም አልነበርንም ፡ ፡

why did you call me
ለምን ጠራኸኝ

nor did we feed the poor .
« ለድኾችም የምናበላ አልነበርንም ፡ ፡

nor did we feed the wretched .
« ለድኾችም የምናበላ አልነበርንም ፡ ፡

did we not destroy the ancients
የፊተኞቹን ( ሕዝቦች ) አላጠፋንምን ?

did we not assign unto him two eyes
ለእርሱ ሁለት ዓይኖችን አላደረግንለትምን ?

and did we not exalt your fame ?
መወሳትህንም ላንተ ከፍ አድርገንልሃል ፡ ፡

did we not destroy the ancient people
የፊተኞቹን ( ሕዝቦች ) አላጠፋንምን ?

did we not create you from a base fluid
ከደካማ ውሃ አልፈጠርናችሁምን ?

did we not create you from a weak water ,
ከደካማ ውሃ አልፈጠርናችሁምን ?

did we not create you from a humble fluid ,
ከደካማ ውሃ አልፈጠርናችሁምን ?

and the jinn did we create aforetime of essential fire .
ጃንንም ( ከሰው ) በፊት ከእሳት ነበልባል ፈጠርነው ፡ ፡

and certainly did we create man from an extract of clay .
በእርግጥም ሰውን ከነጠረ ጭቃ ፈጠርነው ፡ ፡

( o prophet ) , did we not lay open your breast
ልብህን ለአንተ አላሰፋንልህምን ? ( አስፍተንልሃል ) ፡ ፡

did we create the angels females while they were present ?
ወይስ እኛ እነርሱ የተጣዱ ሆነው መላእክትን ሴቶች አድርገን ፈጠርን ?

and we have brought unto thee the truth , and verily we say sooth .
« እውነትንም ይዘን መጣንህ ፡ ፡ እኛም በእርግጥ እውነተኞች ነን ፡ ፡

but he beguiled a great many of you . why did you not then understand ?
ከእናንተም ብዙን ፍጡር በእርግጥ አሳስቷል ፡ ፡ የምታውቁም አልነበራችሁምን ?

yet he led astray a great multitude of you . why did you not then understand ?
ከእናንተም ብዙን ፍጡር በእርግጥ አሳስቷል ፡ ፡ የምታውቁም አልነበራችሁምን ?

and when our verses are recited to them , they say , " we have heard . if we willed , we could say [ something ] like this .
አንቀጾቻችንም በነሱ ላይ በተነበቡ ጊዜ « በእርግጥ ሰምተናል ፤ በሻን ኖሮ የዚህን ብጤ ባልን ነበር ፤ ይህ የመጀመሪያዎቹ ሰዎች ጽሑፍ ተረቶች እንጂ ሌላ አይደለም » ይላሉ ፡ ፡

when you heard it , why did you not say : ' it is not right for us to speak of this . exaltations to you !
በሰማችሁትም ጊዜ በዚህ ልንናገር ለእኛ አይገባንም ፡ ፡ ጥራት ይገባህ ፡ ፡ ይህ ከባድ ቅጥፈት ነው ፤ አትሉም ነበርን
