do they feel secure, those who devise evil things, that god will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the chastisement will not come upon them, from whence they are not aware?
a zar su sigurni oni koji ružne podmuklosti snuju – da ih allah neće u zemlju utjerati ili da im neće, odakle ne mogu ni pomisliti, kazna doći,

allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with him; but he forgiveth anything else, to whom he pleaseth; to set up partners with allah is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.
allah neće oprostiti da mu se neko drugi smatra ravnim, a oprostiće manje grijehove od toga kome on hoće. a onaj ko drugog smatra allahu ravnim čini, izmišljajući laž, grijeh veliki.

do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the wrath will not seize them from directions they little perceive?-
a zar su sigurni oni koji ružne podmuklosti snuju – da ih allah neće u zemlju utjerati ili da im neće, odakle ne mogu ni pomisliti, kazna doći,

and rehearse thou unto them the story of nuh, when he said unto his people: o my people! if my standing forth and my admonishment with the commandments of allah be hard upon you, then on allah i rely; so devise your affair, ye and your associate-gods and let not your affair be dubious unto you, then have it decreed against me, and respite me not.
izrecituj im vijest nuhovu, kad reče narodu svom: "o narode moj! ako vam je teško stajanje moje i opominjanje moje ajetima allahovim - pa u allaha se pouzdavam - onda sredite stvar vi i ortaci vaši, zatim neka ne bude odluka vaša sumnjivom za vas, potom mi presudite, i ne odgađajte mi.
