the art gallery, dedicated to włodzimierz and jerzy kulczycki, is located in the vicinity of the famous house pod jedlami [under the firs], in a brick building in manorial style erected in the early 1920s by the koziański family. purchased from the family heirs by the bureau of the cabinet after world war ii, the koziański house served in the people’s poland as a rep resentative residence visited by those in power including prime minister józef cyrankiewicz, which accounts for the then popular name of the building, ‘cyrankiewiczówka’. following the exertions of some of the tatra museum staff, in 1981 the municipal authorities conveyed the building to the museum with a view to converting it into a gallery of eastern carpets of an earlier donation made by jerzy kulczycki’s widow, anna piotrowicz-kulczycka.
la galleria d’arte intitolata a włodzimierz e jerzy kulczycki, situata nei pressi della celebre casa “pod jedlami” è una costruzione in muratura nello stile dei “dwór”, risalente ai primi anni ’20 del novecento ed eseguita dalla famiglia koziański. dopo la ii guerra mondiale la casa fu acquistata dal consiglio dei ministri direttamente dalle mani degli eredi. la villa divenne così un luogo di rappresentanza in cui soggiornavano i più alti prominenti della prl (repubblica popolare polacca) tra cui il primo ministro józef cyrankiewicz, al punto che alla casa fu attribuito l’appellativo di “cyrankiewiczówka”. in seguito alle premure di alcuni dipendenti del museo dei tatra, nel 1981 le autorità della città cedettero la villa al museo. essa fu così adibita a galleria degli arazzi orientali, precedentemente donati da anna piotrowicz-kulczycka, vedova di jerzy kulczycki.
