nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock
(நபியே! அல்லாஹ்வின் வல்லமையைக் கண்டு) நீர் ஆச்சரியப்படுகிறீர்; (ஆனால்) அவர்கள் பரிகாசம் செய்கின்றனர்.

now dost thou see any remnant of them?
ஆகவே, அவர்களில் எஞ்சிய எவரையும் நீர் காண்கிறீரா?

truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,
(நபியே! அல்லாஹ்வின் வல்லமையைக் கண்டு) நீர் ஆச்சரியப்படுகிறீர்; (ஆனால்) அவர்கள் பரிகாசம் செய்கின்றனர்.

and thou dost see the people enter allah's religion in crowds,
மேலும், அல்லாஹ்வின் மார்க்கத்தில் மக்கள் அணியணியாகப் பிரவேசிப்பதை நீங்கள் காணும் போதும்,

yet no faith will the greater part of mankind have, however ardently thou dost desire it.
ஆனால் நீர் எவ்வளவு அதிகமாக விரும்பினாலும் (அம்) மனிதர்களில் பெரும் பாலோர் (உம்மை நபி என) நம்பமாட்டார்கள்.

or dost thou reflect that the companions of the cave and of the inscription were wonders among our sign?
(அஸ்ஹாபுல் கஹ்ஃபு என்ற குகையிலிருந்தோரைப் பற்றி) அந்த குகையிலிருந்தோரும், சாஸனத்தையுடையோரும் நம்முடைய ஆச்சரியமான அத்தாட்சிகளில் நின்றும் உள்ளவர்கள் என எண்ணுகிறீரோ,

and no reward dost thou ask of them for this: it is no less than a message for all creatures.
இதற்காக நீர் அவர்களிடத்தில் எந்தக் கூலியும் கேட்பதில்லை. இஃது அகிலத்தார் அனைவருக்கும் நினைவூட்டும் நல்லுபதேசமே அன்றி வேறில்லை.

dost thou not consider how thy lord dealt with (the tribe of) a'ad,
உம்முடைய இறைவன் ஆ(து கூட்டத்)தை என்ன செய்தான் என்பதை நீர் பார்க்கவில்லையா?

and even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the mercy from thy lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness.
(உம்மிடம் பொருளில்லாமல் அதற்காக) நீர் உம்முடைய இறைவனின் அருளை ஆதரவு வைத்து (அதை) எதிர்ப்பார்த்திருக்கும் சமயத்தில் (உம்மிடம் எவரேனும் எதுவும் கேட்டு,) அவர்களை நீர் புறக்கணிக்கும்படி நேரிட்டால், (அப்போது) அவர்களிடம் கனிவான, அன்பான சொல்லையே சொல்வீராக!

and how many a generation we destroyed before them! dost thou perceive so much as one of them, or hear of them a whisper?
அவர்களுக்கு முன்னர், எத்தனையோ தலைமுறையினரை நாம் அழித்திருக்கிறோம்; அவர்களில் ஒருவரையேனும் நீர் பார்க்கிறீரா? அல்லது அவர்களுடைய இலேசான சப்தத்தை நீர் கேட்கிறீரா?

"and this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the children of israel!"
"பனூ இஸ்ராயீல்களை அடிமையாக வைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் நிலையில் இது நீ எனக்குச் சொல்லிக் காண்பிக்கக் கூடிய பாக்கியமாகுமா?"

"'nor call on any, other than allah;- such will neither profit thee nor hurt thee: if thou dost, behold! thou shalt certainly be of those who do wrong.'"
உமக்கு (எவ்வித) நன்மையையோ, தீமையையோ செய்ய இயலாத அல்லாஹ் அல்லாததை எதனையும் நீர் பிரார்த்திக்க வேண்டாம்; (அவ்வாறு) செய்வீராயின் நிச்சயமாக நீர் அநியாயக்காரர்களில் ஒருவராகிவிடவீர்.
