and assuredly we covenanted with adam aforetime, then he forgat, and we found not in him steadiness.

and of them are some who covenanted with saying: if he giveth of his grace, we will surely give alms and we will surely become of the righteous.

and yet they had already covenanted with allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with allah must (surely) be answered for.
และโดยแน่นอนพวกเขาได้ให้สัญญาต่ออัลลอฮฺมาก่อนแล้วว่า พวกเขาจะไม่หันหลังกลับ และสัญญาของอัลลอฮฺนั้นจะถูกสอบถาม

and they said: magician! supplicate thy lord for us for that which he hath covenanted with thee; verily we shall let ourselves be guided.
และพวกเขากล่าวว่า โอ้มายากรเอ๋ย โปรดวิงวอนต่อพระเจ้าของท่านแก่พวกเราด้วย ตามที่พระองค์ได้ทรงทำสัญญากับท่าน แท้จริงเราจะเป็นผู้อยู่ในแนวทางที่ถูกต้อง

and fulfil the covenant of allahs when ye have covenanted, and violate not the oaths after the ratification thereof, and surely ye have appointed allah a surety over you. verily allah knoweth that which ye do:
และพวกเจ้าจงปฏิบัติให้ครบตามพันธสัญญาของอัลลอฮ์ เมื่อพวกเจ้าได้ให้สัญญาไว้ และพวกเจ้าอย่าได้ทำลายคำสาบานหลังจากได้ยืนยันมัน และแน่นอน พวกเจ้าได้ตั้งอัลลอฮ์เป็นพยานแก่พวกเจ้า แท้จริงอัลลอฮ์ทรงรอบรู้สิ่งที่พวกเจ้ากระทำ

among the muslims are the men who have proved true what they had covenanted with allah; so among them is one who has already fulfilled his vow, and among them is one still waiting; and they have not changed a bit.
ในหมู่ผู้ศรัทธามีบุรุษผู้มีสัจจะต่อสิ่งที่พวกเขาได้สัญญาต่ออัลลอฮฺเอาไว้ ดังนั้นในหมู่พวกเขามีผู้ปฏิบัติตามสัญญาของเขา และในหมู่พวกเขามีผู้ที่ยังคอย (การตายชะฮีด) และพวกเขามิได้เปลี่ยนแปลงแต่อย่างใด

and fulfill the covenant of allah (bai'a: pledge for islam) when you have covenanted, and break not the oaths after you have confirmed them, and indeed you have appointed allah your surety. verily! allah knows what you do.
