i fiori delle heliconia, penduli o eretti, colpiscono per le strane strutture zigzaganti, ma il parco offre curiosità botaniche per tutti i gusti : dai frutti della crescentia alata si ricavano le maraca, i ben noti strumenti musicali dei caràibi; i fiori degli haemanthus coccineus sbucano fiammeggianti, come funghi, dalla nuda terra; l’albero del candele ( parmentiera edulis ) più fornito di una drogheria, espone la sua merce sui rami; e fra le erbe del parco, come una violetta, può fiorire una leguminosa irriverente, la clitoria rubiginosa, dal nome e dalla forma evocatrici dell’anatomia femminile.
the flowers of the heliconia, pendulous, or upright, strike for the odd zigzagging structures, but the park offers botanical curiosities for all the tastes: from the fruits of the crescentia alata they get the maracas, the well known musical instruments of the caribbean; the flowers of the haemanthus coccineus come out, blazing, like mushrooms, from the bare land; the candle tree ( parmentiera edulis ), richer than a grocery, shows its goods on the branches; and, between the grasses of the park, like a violet, can blossom a disrespectful leguminosae, the clitoria rubiginosa, with name and shape recalling the feminine anatomy.
