one who cannot pay this, he must fast for three days to expiate his oaths.

walio sema: mwenyezi mungu ametuahidi tusimuamini mtume yeyote mpaka atuletee kafara inayo teketezwa na moto.
(those are they) who said: surely allah has enjoined us that we should not believe in any apostle until he brings us an offering which the fire consumes.

basi kafara yake ni kuwalisha masikini kumi kwa chakula cha wastani mnacho walisha ahali zenu, au kuwavisha, au kumkomboa mtumwa.
its expiation is the feeding of ten needy (people) with such food as you normally offer to your own people; or the clothing of them; or the freeing of a slave.

hii inafanyika kwa kumkumbuka abraham, ambaye alikuwa tayari kumtoa mwanae wa pekee kafara kwa mungu, kabla mungu hajamwambia kumtoa kondoo badala yake.
this is done in honor of abraham, who was willing to sacrifice his son for god, before god told him to sacrifice a sheep instead.

basi kafara yake ni kuwalisha masikini kumi kwa chakula cha wastani mnacho walisha ahali zenu, au kuwavisha, au kumkomboa mtumwa. asiye pata hayo, basi afunge siku tatu.
the expiation (for breaking such oaths) is either to feed ten needy persons with more or less the same food as you are wont to give to your families, or to clothe them, or to set free from bondage the neck of one man; and he who does not find the means shall fast for three days.

mwenyezi mungu hatakushikeni kwa viapo vyenu vya upuuzi, lakini atakushikeni kwa mnavyo apa kweli kweli kwa makusudio. basi kafara yake ni kuwalisha masikini kumi kwa chakula cha wastani mnacho walisha ahali zenu, au kuwavisha, au kumkomboa mtumwa.
allah does not call you to account for what is vain in your oaths, but he calls you to account for the making of deliberate oaths; so its expiation is the feeding of ten poor men out of the middling (food) you feed your families with, or their clothing, or the freeing of a neck; but whosoever cannot find (means) then fasting for three days; this is the expiation of your oaths when you swear; and guard your oaths.

na miongoni mwenu atakaye muuwa makusudi, basi malipo yake yatakuwa kwa kuchinja kilicho sawa na alicho kiuwa, katika mifugo, kama wanavyo hukumu waadilifu wawili miongoni mwenu. mnyama huyo apelekwe kwenye al kaaba, au kutoa kafara kwa kuwalisha masikini; au badala ya hayo ni kufunga, ili aonje ubaya wa jambo lake hili.
and anyone among you who does so on purpose should offer livestock of equivalent value, determined by two honourable persons among you, (as atonement), to be brought to the ka'bah as an offering; or else expiate by giving food to the poor, or its equivalent in fasting, so that he may realise the gravity of his deed.
