it is they who exchange guidance for error, and forgiveness for punishment. but why do they insist on the fire?
그들은 진리를 버리고 방황을 택하였으며 관용을 마다하고 벌을 원하였나니 그들이 유황불 위에서 참을 수 있단 말이뇨

why do they not turn to god and ask for his forgiveness? god is forgiving and merciful.
왜 그들은 하나님께 회개하 지 아니하며 용서를 구하지 않느 뇨 하나님은 관용과 자비로 충만 하니라

and he said unto them, why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
예 수 께 서 가 라 사 대 ` 어 찌 하 여 두 려 워 하 며 어 찌 하 여 마 음 에 의 심 이 일 어 나 느 냐

if such will be the day of judgment, what is the matter with them? why do they run away from guidance,
교훈을 거역한 그들이 어떻 게 되었느뇨

so why do they not incline towards allah and seek his forgiveness? and allah is oft forgiving, most merciful.
왜 그들은 하나님께 회개하 지 아니하며 용서를 구하지 않느 뇨 하나님은 관용과 자비로 충만 하니라

people of the book! why do you confound truth with falsehood, and why do you conceal the truth knowingly?
성서의 백성들이여 너희들은왜 진실과 허위를 혼동시키며 알 고 있으면서도 그 진실을 감추려 하느뇨

so that they may eat of its fruit; yet it was not done by their hands. then why do they not acknowledge thanks?
그들이 만들지 아니한 과일 을 먹도록 했으나 그래도 그들은 감사할 줄 모르더라

these people of ours have taken deities other than him. why do they not produce clear evidence about them? who is more wicked than the man who invents a falsehood against god?
그런데 이 고을의 백성들은 그분 이외의 다른 신을 섬겼더라 그런데 왜 그들은 분명한 예증을 대지 못하느뇨 하나님에 대하여 거짓하는 자보다 더 사악한 자가 누구이뇨

and those who look not for a meeting with us say: why are angels not sent down unto us and (why) do we not see our lord! assuredly they think too highly of themselves and are scornful with great pride.
하나님 뵙기를 바라지 않는 불신자들은 왜 천사들이 우리에게 오지 않느뇨 왜 우리는 우리의 주 님을 보지 못하느뇨 라고 말하니 실로 그들은 스스로 교만하고 불 손하더라

as for these our people here, they have taken to other gods apart from him. then why do they not bring a clear authority for them? who is more wicked than he who fabricates a lie against god?"
그런데 이 고을의 백성들은 그분 이외의 다른 신을 섬겼더라 그런데 왜 그들은 분명한 예증을 대지 못하느뇨 하나님에 대하여 거짓하는 자보다 더 사악한 자가 누구이뇨

these—our people—have taken gods besides him. why do they not bring any clear authority touching them? so who is a greater wrongdoer than he who fabricates a lie against allah?
그런데 이 고을의 백성들은 그분 이외의 다른 신을 섬겼더라 그런데 왜 그들은 분명한 예증을 대지 못하느뇨 하나님에 대하여 거짓하는 자보다 더 사악한 자가 누구이뇨

but why do they come to you for judgement when they have the torah, which enshrines god's own judgement? yet, in spite of that, they turn their backs; and certainly they will not believe.
그들이 판결을 구하려 그대 에게 오겠느뇨 그들은 구약을 갖 고 있으며 그 안에 하나님의 규범이 있지 않느뇨 그런 후에도 그들 은 돌아서니 그들은 믿는자들이 아니라

"these our people have taken for worship aliha (gods) other than him (allah). why do they not bring for them a clear authority? and who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against allah.
그런데 이 고을의 백성들은 그분 이외의 다른 신을 섬겼더라 그런데 왜 그들은 분명한 예증을 대지 못하느뇨 하나님에 대하여 거짓하는 자보다 더 사악한 자가 누구이뇨
