"மேலும், நிச்சயமாக நம்மில் நல்லோரும் இருக்கின்றனர், அப்படியல்லாதவர்களும் நம்மில் இருக்கின்றனர், நாம் பல்வேறு வழிகளையுடையவர்களாகவும் இருந்தோம்.

and others there are who say, 'our lord, give to us in this world good, and good in the world to come, and guard us against the chastisement of the fire';
இன்னும் அவர்களில் சிலர், "ரப்பனா! (எங்கள் இறைவனே!) எங்களுக்கு இவ்வுலகில் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. மறுமையிலும் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. இன்னும் எங்களை(நரக) நெருப்பின் வேதனையிலிருந்தும் காத்தருள்வாயாக!" எனக் கேட்போரும் அவர்களில் உண்டு.

was the message given to him, out of all of us? in fact, he is a wicked liar.”
"நம்மிடையே இருந்து இவர் மீதுதானா (நினைவுறுத்தும்) நல்லுபதேசம் இறக்கப்படவேண்டும், அல்ல! அவர் ஆணவம் பிடித்த பெரும் பொய்யர்" (என்றும் அவர்கள் கூறினர்).

and of them there are some who say: "our lord! give us in this world that which is good and in the hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the fire!"
இன்னும் அவர்களில் சிலர், "ரப்பனா! (எங்கள் இறைவனே!) எங்களுக்கு இவ்வுலகில் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. மறுமையிலும் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. இன்னும் எங்களை(நரக) நெருப்பின் வேதனையிலிருந்தும் காத்தருள்வாயாக!" எனக் கேட்போரும் அவர்களில் உண்டு.

so when you have performed your devotions, then laud allah as you lauded your fathers, rather a greater lauding. but there are some people who say, our lord! give us in the world, and they shall have no resting place.
ஆகவே, உங்களுடைய ஹஜ்ஜுகிரியைகளை முடித்ததும், நீங்கள்(இதற்கு முன்னர்) உங்கள் தந்தையரை நினைவு கூர்ந்து சிறப்பித்ததைப்போல் - இன்னும் அழுத்தமாக, அதிகமாக அல்லாஹ்வை நினைவு கூர்ந்து திக்ரு செய்யுங்கள்; மனிதர்களில் சிலர், "எங்கள் இறைவனே! இவ்வுலகிலேயே (எல்லாவற்றையும்) எங்களுக்குத் தந்துவிடு" என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; இத்தகையோருக்கு மறுமையில் யாதொரு நற்பாக்கியமும் இல்லை.

and when ye have completed your rites, remember allah even as ye remember your fathers or with a stronger remembrance. of mankind there are some who say: our lord vouchsafe unto us in, the world. and for such there shall be no portion in the hereafter.
ஆகவே, உங்களுடைய ஹஜ்ஜுகிரியைகளை முடித்ததும், நீங்கள்(இதற்கு முன்னர்) உங்கள் தந்தையரை நினைவு கூர்ந்து சிறப்பித்ததைப்போல் - இன்னும் அழுத்தமாக, அதிகமாக அல்லாஹ்வை நினைவு கூர்ந்து திக்ரு செய்யுங்கள்; மனிதர்களில் சிலர், "எங்கள் இறைவனே! இவ்வுலகிலேயே (எல்லாவற்றையும்) எங்களுக்குத் தந்துவிடு" என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; இத்தகையோருக்கு மறுமையில் யாதொரு நற்பாக்கியமும் இல்லை.

and when you have performed your holy rites remember god, as you remember your fathers or yet more devoutly. now some men there are who say, 'our lord, give to us in this world'; such men shall have no part in the world to come.
ஆகவே, உங்களுடைய ஹஜ்ஜுகிரியைகளை முடித்ததும், நீங்கள்(இதற்கு முன்னர்) உங்கள் தந்தையரை நினைவு கூர்ந்து சிறப்பித்ததைப்போல் - இன்னும் அழுத்தமாக, அதிகமாக அல்லாஹ்வை நினைவு கூர்ந்து திக்ரு செய்யுங்கள்; மனிதர்களில் சிலர், "எங்கள் இறைவனே! இவ்வுலகிலேயே (எல்லாவற்றையும்) எங்களுக்குத் தந்துவிடு" என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; இத்தகையோருக்கு மறுமையில் யாதொரு நற்பாக்கியமும் இல்லை.

recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course.
அந்த இளைஞர்கள் குகையினுள் தஞ்சம் புகுந்த போது அவர்கள் "எங்கள் இறைவா! நீ உன்னிடமிருந்து எங்களுக்கு ரஹ்மத்தை அருள்வாயாக! இன்னும் நீ எங்களுக்காக எங்கள் காரியத்தை(ப் பலனுள்ள தாக)ச் சீர்திருத்தித் தருவாயாக!" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

they said, “o governor! he has a very aged father, so take one of us in his stead; indeed we witness your favours.”
அவர்கள் (யூஸுஃபை நோக்கி), (இந்நாட்டின் அதிபதி) அஜீஸே! நிச்சயமாக இவருக்கு முதிர்ச்சியடைந்துள்ள வயோதிகத் தந்தை இருக்கிறார். எனவே அவருடைய இடத்தில் எங்களில் ஒருவரை நீர் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளும், நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் உம்மைப் பரோபகாரம் செய்வோரில் ஒருவராகவே காண்கிறோம்' என்று கூறினார்கள்.

and they who say: o our lord! grant us in our wives and our offspring the joy of our eyes, and make us guides to those who guard (against evil).
மேலும் அவர்கள்; "எங்கள் இறைவா! எங்கள் மனைவியரிடமும், எங்கள் சந்ததியரிடமும் இருந்து எங்களுக்குக் கண்களின் குளிர்ச்சியை அளிப்பாயாக! இன்னும் பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுக்கு எங்களை இமாமாக (வழிகாட்டியாக) ஆக்கியருள்வாயாக! என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்வார்கள்.

and those who come after them say: our lord! forgive us and those of our brethren who had precedence of us in faith, and do not allow any spite to remain in our hearts towards those who believe, our lord! surely thou art kind, merciful.
அவர்களுக்குப்பின் குடியேறியவர்களுக்கும் (இதில் பங்குண்டு). அவர்கள் "எங்கள் இறைவனே! எங்களுக்கும், ஈமான் கொள்வதில் எங்களுக்கு முந்தியவர்களான எங்கள் சகோதரர்களுக்கும் மன்னிப்பு அருள்வாயாக, அன்றியும் ஈமான் கொண்டவர்களைப் பற்றி எங்களுடைய இதயங்களில் பகையை ஆக்காதிருப்பாயாக! எங்கள் இறைவனே! நிச்சயமாக நீ மிக்க இரக்கமுடையவன், கிருபை மிக்கவன்" என்றும் (பிரார்த்தித்துக்) கூறுவர்.

everyday many people are involved in road accidents. some are killed. many more are injured or maimed. so it is important for us to learn to use the roads properly and safely. no sane person would like to be involved in an accident. as the roads are very busy nowadays, we should be very careful when crossing one. it is safer to use a pedestrian crossing or an overhead bridge whenever one is available. never cross a road by dashing across it. that is inviting trouble. if there are no crossings, then we must look carefully right and left and cross only when it is safe to do so. some of us take the bus to school. it is important that we do not try to get on or off a bus while it is still moving. i tried to get on a moving bus once. it dragged me a short distance and nearly ran over me. i was lucky to escape with only some scratches on my legs. also we must not fool around while in the bus. a suddenly lurch can send us knocking our heads against something hard. using a bicycle can be dangerous too. we must pay attention on the road and never cycle too far out to the middle of the road. we must obey all traffic rules. also we must make sure our bicycles are in good condition with working brakes, lights etc. these are some things we can do to avoid accidents. however there is no guarantee that we will never be involved in one. the important thing is to stay alert at all times while using the roads. we must know what is happening around us. in that way we can take necessary action to avoid danger whenever we see one. road safety is very much up to how we use the roads. use them carefully and we may be able to use them for a long time. use them carelessly and we may never be able to use them again.
