และด้วยเรื่องนี้ (อัลกุรอาน) กระนั้นหรือที่พวกเจ้าปฏิเสธเย้ยหยัน?

in scorn thereof. nightly did ye rave together.
พวกเขาหยิ่งจองหองต่ออัลกุรอาน พวกเจ้าจับกลุ่มสนทนากันในเวลากลางคืน

no wonder you are surprised as they laugh with scorn.
แต่เจ้าคงแปลกใจ ขณะที่พวกเขาเยาะเย้ย

and they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
คนทั้งปวงก็พากันหัวเราะเยาะพระองค์ เพราะรู้ว่าเด็กนั้นตายแล้

my friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto god.
เพื่อนของข้าดูหมิ่นข้า แต่ตาของข้าเทน้ำตาออกถวายพระเจ้

the righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
คนชอบธรรมเห็นและยินดี คนไร้ผิดหัวเราะเยา

thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
พระองค์ทรงกระทำให้ข้าพระองค์เป็นที่นินทาของเพื่อนบ้าน เป็นที่เยาะเย้ยและดูหมิ่นแก่ผู้ที่อยู่รอบข้าพระองค

but those who deny and scorn our revelations shall be the inmates of hell, where they shall remain forever.
และบรรดาผู้ที่ปฏิเสธโองการทั้งหลายของเราและแสดงโอหังเหล่านั้นชนเหล่านี้แหละคือชาวนรกโดยที่พวกเขาจะอยู่ในนรกนั้นตลอดกาล

but they who deny our revelations and scorn them - each are rightful owners of the fire; they will abide therein.
และบรรดาผู้ที่ปฏิเสธโองการทั้งหลายของเราและแสดงโอหังเหล่านั้นชนเหล่านี้แหละคือชาวนรกโดยที่พวกเขาจะอยู่ในนรกนั้นตลอดกาล

turn not thy cheek away from men in scorn, and walk not in the earth exultantly; god loves not any man proud and boastful.
“และเจ้าอย่าหันแก้ม (ใบหน้า) ของเจ้าให้แก่ผู้คนอย่างยะโส และอย่าเดินไปตามแผ่นดินอย่างไร้มรรยาท แท้จริง อัลลอฮฺ มิทรงชอบทุกผู้หยิ่งจองหอง และผู้คุยโวโอ้อวด”

do not turn your cheek in scorn away from people, nor walk proudly on the earth; allah does not love the proud and the boastful.
“และเจ้าอย่าหันแก้ม (ใบหน้า) ของเจ้าให้แก่ผู้คนอย่างยะโส และอย่าเดินไปตามแผ่นดินอย่างไร้มรรยาท แท้จริง อัลลอฮฺ มิทรงชอบทุกผู้หยิ่งจองหอง และผู้คุยโวโอ้อวด”

was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them?
เนื่องเพราะเราถือ เอาพวกเขาเป็นที่เยาะเย้ยน่าขัน หรือสายตาของพวกเราคลาดเคลื่อนไปจากพวกเขา

and your lord hath said: pray unto me and i will hear your prayer. lo! those who scorn my service, they will enter hell, disgraced.
และพระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าตรัสว่า จงวิงวอนขอต่อข่า ข้าจะตอบรับแก่พวกเจ้า ส่วนบรรดาผู้โอหังกต่อการเคารพภักดีข้านั้น จะเข้าไปอยู่ในนรกอย่างต่ำต้อย

lest a soul should say: o woe to me! for what i fell short of my duty to allah, and most surely i was of those who laughed to scorn;
มิฉะนั้น ชีวิตหนึ่งจะกล่าวว่า โอ้ความหายนะจงประสบแก่ข้าพระองค์ ที่ข้าพระองค์ทอดทิ้ง (หน้าที่) ที่มีต่ออัลลอฮฺ และข้าพระองค์เคยอยู่ในหมู่ผู้เยาะเย้ยอีกด้วย

and they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
เขาจะดูหมิ่นบรรดากษัตริย์ และเขาจะเหยียดหยามเจ้านายทั้งหลาย เขาจะหัวเราะเยาะป้อมปราการทุกแห่ง เพราะเขาจะพูนดินขึ้นและยึดป้อมนั้นเสี

and he thought scorn to lay hands on mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of mordecai: wherefore haman sought to destroy all the jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of ahasuerus, even the people of mordecai.
แต่ท่านเห็นว่าเป็นการเสียเกียรติที่จะจับกุมโมรเดคัยคนเดียว เพราะมีคนเรียนท่านให้ทราบถึงชนชาติของโมรเดคัย ฮามานจึงหาช่องที่จะทำลายยิวทั้งหมด คือชนชาติของโมรเดคัยทั่วราชอาณาจักรของอาหสุเอรั

and your lord said: "invoke me, [i.e. believe in my oneness (islamic monotheism)] (and ask me for anything) i will respond to your (invocation). verily! those who scorn my worship [i.e. do not invoke me, and do not believe in my oneness, (islamic monotheism)] they will surely enter hell in humiliation!"
และพระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าตรัสว่า จงวิงวอนขอต่อข่า ข้าจะตอบรับแก่พวกเจ้า ส่วนบรรดาผู้โอหังกต่อการเคารพภักดีข้านั้น จะเข้าไปอยู่ในนรกอย่างต่ำต้อย
