dal 27 ottobre al 9 novembre 42 è in pattugliamento a sud delle baleari dove, il giorno 7, avvistato un convoglio diretto ad algeri, riesce a lanciare un siluro contro un caccia della scorta, ma senza esito.
from october 27th to november 9th 1942, the topazio was on patrol south of the balearic islands where, on the 7th, it sighted a convoy bound for algeria. the boat launched one torpedo against one of the escort but without any result.

passato sotto il comando del ten. vasc. antonio dotta, il 22 luglio 41, stando in pattugliamento al largo di bougie (algeria), viene a trovarsi in mezzo ad una grossa formazione navale inglese.
