በዚያን ጊዜም ጲላጦስ ኢየሱስን ይዞ ገረፈው።
then pilate therefore took jesus, and scourged him.

ሁሉም በሞላው ተነሥተው ወደ ጲላጦስ ወሰዱትና።
and the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto pilate.

ኢየሱስም ከዚያ በኋላ ጲላጦስ እስኪደነቅ ድረስ ምንም አልመለሰም።
but jesus yet answered nothing; so that pilate marvelled.

በዚያን ጊዜ ጲላጦስ። ስንት ያህል እንዲመሰክሩብህ አትሰማምን? አለው።
then said pilate unto him, hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

በዚያን ጊዜም ሰዎች መጥተው ጲላጦስ ደማቸውን ከመሥዋዕታቸው ጋር ስላደባለቀው ስለ ገሊላ ሰዎች አወሩለት።
there were present at that season some that told him of the galilaeans, whose blood pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

በማግሥቱም ከመዘጋጀት በኋላ በሚሆነው ቀን፥ የካህናት አለቆችና ፈሪሳውያን ወደ ጲላጦስ ተሰበሰቡና።
now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and pharisees came together unto pilate,

ስለዚህ ጲላጦስ። አትነግረኝምን? ልሰቅልህ ሥልጣን እንዳለኝ ወይም ልፈታህ ሥልጣን እንዳለኝ አታውቅምን? አለው።
then saith pilate unto him, speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that i have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

እንግዲህ እነርሱ ተሰብስበው ሳሉ ጲላጦስ። በርባንን ወይስ ክርስቶስ የተባለውን ኢየሱስን ማንኛውን ልፈታላችሁ ትወዳላችሁ? አላቸው፤
therefore when they were gathered together, pilate said unto them, whom will ye that i release unto you? barabbas, or jesus which is called christ?

ጲላጦስ። እውነት ምንድር ነው? አለው። ይህንም ብሎ ዳግመኛ ወደ አይሁድ ወጥቶ። እኔስ አንዲት በደል ስንኳ አላገኘሁበትም።
pilate saith unto him, what is truth? and when he had said this, he went out again unto the jews, and saith unto them, i find in him no fault at all.

በቀባኸው በቅዱሱ ብላቴናህ በኢየሱስ ላይ ሄሮድስና ጴንጤናዊው ጲላጦስ ከአሕዛብና ከእስራኤል ሕዝብ ጋር፥ እጅህና አሳብህ እንዲሆን አስቀድመው የወሰኑትን ሁሉ ሊፈጽሙ፥ በዚች ከተማ በእውነት ተሰበሰቡ።
for of a truth against thy holy child jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both herod, and pontius pilate, with the gentiles, and the people of israel, were gathered together,
