guardaci, signore gesù, affinché possiamo piangere il nostro peccato
look at us, lord jesus, so that we may weep for our sin

tutte ti risponderanno: guardaci pure e osserva come siamo belle.
all respond: ‘see, we are beautiful’.

"tu, una volta ravveduto" – il signore, che gli predice la caduta, gli promette anche la conversione: "allora il signore, voltatosi, guardò pietro…" (lc 22, 61). lo sguardo di gesù opera la trasformazione e diventa la salvezza di pietro: egli, "uscito, pianse amaramente" (22, 62). vogliamo sempre di nuovo implorare questo sguardo salvatore di gesù: per tutti coloro che, nella chiesa, portano una responsabilità; per tutti coloro che soffrono delle confusioni di questo tempo; per i grandi e per i piccoli: signore, guardaci sempre di nuovo e così tiraci su da tutte le nostre cadute e prendici nelle tue mani buone.
"when you have turned again": the lord, who predicted his fall, also promises him conversion: "and the lord turned and looked at peter..." (lk 22: 61). jesus' look works the transformation and becomes peter's salvation: "he went out and wept bitterly" (lk 22: 62). let us implore ever anew this saving gaze of jesus: for all those who have responsibility in the church; for all who suffer the bewilderment of these times; for the great and for the small: lord, look at us ever anew, pick us up every time we fall and take us in your good hands.
