patdan-usually the small cuttings of sugarcane (topmost part of the sugarcane,just before the leaves) it is used to regrow the sugarcane. during harvest, the sugarcane are being slashed from roots to the top leaving 1 to 1 1/2 ft to the leaves. that 1 to 1 1/2 ft remains is exactly being cut and used to replant the the sugarcane.in other words, pretty much the sugarcane cuttings use for replanting.
