justino rupard i'm a san diego native seeking to restructure california’s electoral college. as a constitutional designer, i believe that we should be voting for 1 individual elector per electoral district. that way, each individual district can have its interests vested in an elector. each time the population grows in california, a census is made every 10 years and more electoral districts are formed thus more representatives in congress are added. the electoral college is imploding with more electoral votes for states having the highest representation usually favoring one political party. the winner take all system is stealing votes from the most vulnerable populations in california. electoral votes are becoming worth a fraction of a vote to the whole electoral college and states are gaining representation over foreigners who can’t vote yet who eventually become permanent residents or american citizens. it’s a modern day 3/5ths compromise where humans are treated as property in california to grow the electorate. electors should be voted in by the electoral districts population in a democracy. this will prevent implosion and ensure that electoral votes are wholesome. it's about time we make a change to the structure of the electoral college for the betterment of all californians and save our votes from being wasted.
